1.使用’a’,’an’,’the’和不使用冠词的基本规则：
<1>泛指，不可数名词不能有任何冠词
<2>泛指，可数，复数名词前不能有冠词
<3>泛指，可数，单数名词前加’a’或者’an’
<4>特殊的，特定的，或者一类名词中的一个前要加上’the’
2.不定冠词’a’,’an’的使用：
使用于单数可数名词
3.定冠词the的使用：
<1>特指的时候，如上文提到电脑，后一句说这台电脑的时候要用the
<2>分词短语作定语的时候，如:The computer sitting on his desk
<3>独一无二的事物，如：the sun
<4>数量，如：the most,the least,the first,the second
<5>特指，如：the only,the final,the primary,the principal,the same
<6>复数名词的部分，如：some of the results,none of the finding,all of…,few of…
<7>理论/结果/设备/方法等的名字，如：The Hubble telescope
<8>地理地区，如：The west…,The East…,The East Coast…
<9>一个名词后面跟着一个短语，如：The purpose of the project…,The results of this study reveal…
4.不用冠词：
<1>没有特指的不可数名词
<2>没有特指的可数复数名词
<3>单词跟着一个数字，如：Page 3,Gate 4
5.其他规则：
<1>缩略词保持和全程的冠词一致，如：The GDP of Korea…,A CD-ROM is…
缩略词已经成为一个词了，即不用按照单个字母发音了，不用任何冠词，如：NASA sends…
<2>日期：在十年decade和世纪使用the，如：in the 1990s,in the early 18th Century,during the Cultural Revolution,during the Ming Dynasty
在特定的年，月，日不使用冠词，如：in 2003,in May,on Tuesday,on June 20,2004
<3>序数词，如：the first/the second/the nth degree
<4>身体部位，如：the brain/the liver/the tongue
<5>动物/器件/仪器，如：the tiger/the optical scanner
<6>熟悉的物品/人与常识，即很容易想像，如：the door is open/the patient left the hospital…
<7>冠词和所属名词：
1.特定的名字，如：Ahmed Ali,The wangs（一家）
2.海/河/沙漠/岛名，加the，如：the Atlantic Ocean/the Black Sea/the Mohabi Desert
3.复数山脉/湖/岛加the，单数不加the，如：Mount St. Helens/Lake Michigan/the Hawaiian Islands/the Rocky Mountains
4.大陆/国家/州/省/城市不加the，但是如果国家名字是复数，如果包含’united’或者’union’,’of’，加the，如：the People’s Republic of China/Europe/Asia/Mexico/the United States/the United Kingdom
5.街道/公园/广场，不加the，如：Rodeo Drive/Central Park
6.大学，不加the，除非包含’of’，如：National College/the University of Minnesota
7.公司名不加the，除非含有’company’,’corporation’,’foundation’，如：IBM，the 3M Company/the Microsoft Corporation
8.建筑物加the，除了’hall’，如：the Hilton Hotel/Lind Hall
